 A culturally rooted Nonprofit

Cultivating stewards of land and ocean through culturally immersive experiences and ecological education rooted in traditional knowledge.

Makoa Quest is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to restoring Hawaiʻi's land, culture, and communities through ecological education, hands-on restoration, and immersive cultural experiences.

By connecting residents and visitors to the people, stories, and landscapes of Hawaiʻi, every quest directly supports our mission and helps empower the future generations of Maui.

Community & Restoration Programs

  • A lush green garden with rows of banana trees and other tropical plants, with a background of dense forested hillside and power lines.

    Restoration

We actively perpetuate Hawaiian cultural practices and knowledge related to land and ocean management, ensuring these traditions not only survive but thrive in modern contexts.

    Education

We offer hands-on, results-driven ecological education that empowers individuals with the insights and skills to make tangible, positive impacts on our environment.

  • Group of people, including children and adults, gathered outdoors around two people using large stone pestles and mortars to crush volcanic rock or obsidian, with others watching.

    Community Outreach

We aim to inspire and equip the next generation of environmental stewards, preparing them to face ecological challenges with innovative, culturally-grounded solutions.
